How to use Your Vote
On Friday, 5 June, between 7am and 10pm, you will be invited to Use Your Vote in the 2009 European Parliament Elections. You will have the chance to decide who represents you in the European Parliament and who takes decisions on your behalf.
All Irish citizens and non-Irish EU citizens resident in Ireland whose name appears on the register of electors and who are 18 years of age or older, are entitled to vote in the 2009 European Elections. In addition, Irish citizens resident in other EU Member States may register to vote in their country of residence and non-Irish EU citizens resident in Ireland, may vote in their home countries according to that country's rules.
To ensure that your name appears on the register of electors, you should 'Check the Register' at www.checktheregister.ie or at your local public library, post office or Garda station.
If your name does not appear on the register of electors, you should contact your local city or county council. Applications should be received by your local council no later than Monday, 18 May 2009.

Responsibility for conducting the election in each of the 4 constituencies rests with a Returning Officer appointed by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
